Principal's Corner

Greetings Fellow Warriors,

I am extremely excited about the 2020-2021 school year and what it has in store for our students.  While our method of lesson delivery has changed in light of current circumstances, our charge of providing a quality education for all students remains the same.  To this end, we will need everyone’s help in ensuring that our students receive the very best educational experience.  Parents, I ask that you support us in the follow ways:

  • If needed, pick up a chromebook from the school at the designated time.
  • Set a daily schedule for your child – teachers will share school expectations.
  • Ensure that your child is connected and engaged in daily lessons.
  • Provide support and encouragement.
  • Share questions and concerns with your child’s teacher during office hours.

While this year will bring new challenges for the Winbourne family, our curriculum will remain the same.  We will continue using the Louisiana Guidebooks in grades 3-5 for ELA instruction, EL Education for ELA in grades K-2, and Eureka Math across all grade levels.  Please check with your child’s teacher about daily practice and additional learning using virtual platforms.  Daily recreational reading and practice with basic math facts should be a mainstay in the life of every student.  I’d like to say a special thank you to the parents who were able to stop by the school and pick up the summer reading books.  I know your child will enjoy reading them to you or being read to.

Again, I am excited about this opportunity to serve.  Please don’t hesitate to contact me at 355-4446 should you have questions regarding your child’s education.

Please stay safe Warriors!  We eagerly await the day our students are able to return to the building.  Until then, let’s continue to work together to make Winbourne the best of the best!
