Welcome to a new school year! We are very excited about the opportunities for growth and achievement students will have this year. Teachers have planned and prepared engaging lessons that will challenge and excite students. With our 1:1 technology integration in 4th – 6th grade, students will be learning with their personal chromebook while at school. We are happy you have decided to take this academic journey with us! I will always be available and happy to answer your questions and/or concerns. I will usually be available between the hours of 7:30-8:00 a.m. and 3:30-4:00 p.m. While I am in classrooms most of the day between these hours, if you would like a meeting between 8:00 and 3:00, please call the office at 654-5113 and I will be happy to schedule a time to meet with you. I have been asked by many parents “What can I do to help my child academically?” To that I have two responses: 1) Read to your child, Read with your child, have a dedicated time every day for your child to read silently. Reading will impact your child’s success in every core subject he/she takes. We will implement Accelerated Reader again this year for students in 2nd – 6th grade. Students will be required to read AR books and take computer based tests that will earn them points toward their specific grade level goal each 9 weeks. 2) Your child will have homework. Providing a daily scheduled time and place to complete homework, and following up to ensure students completion (not accuracy) of the homework, has proven to be one of the most successful ways for parents to positively impact students school success.
I look forward to seeing each of you throughout this school year at our various parent events, and meeting with you to discuss your child’s academic growth!
