The Anime Club
Anime and Manga club is an introduction to and celebration of the Japanese-originated art of telling stories using illustrations, dialogue, animations, and action sequences unique to Japanese culture. Whether an anime aficionado or a novice to Naruto, all are welcome to join and partake in the activities of the club.  The club covers topics such as what makes a good anime opening, whether or not Avatar is anime, Anime/manga film adaptation, plot armor, and print vs scanlation. So if Anime is your passion and you just gotta read ‘em all, join us for Anime Club in Mr. Bell’s room (204A) on club meeting days.
Art Club/Cool Club

These very talented kids have a myriad of activities every year. They include trips to museums and to shows. Ms.Laurie Johnson and Mrs.Robin Hartman sponsor this awesome group.

Astronomy Club
sponsored by math teacher, Charles Scarbrough, will have students exploring the latest scientific theories regarding the solar system, stars, galaxies, and cosmology, primarily by watching videos provided by NASA.

The marching band performs at pep rallies and halftime of football games.  Holiday activities include marching in the Baton Rouge Christmas Parade.
Concert season begins in January and includes participation in EBR All-Parish Band, All-State Band, and LMEA Solo and Ensemble Festival, as well as a concert for the student body. Mr.Grant Hall is our band director.

Beta Club

The Broadmoor Beta Club is a service organization that requires much time and devotion.   Each member must maintain a 3.0 GPA and must earn service hours each semester.  Service projects include visiting nursing homes and hospitals, and community services.  The Beta Club members participate in a statewide convention held every year in December.


Good thinkers make good leaders. The Game of Chess requires deep thought and strategy, it is a true gymnasium of the mind.

Club Latino

The Club Latino is BHS’ Spanish Club. Led by Elpidio Morejón and Gilberto Ayón-Martin, the Spanish students take several field trips every year to explore the vast Spanish Heritage in our area and to discover all that is Spanish in our community.


Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced choirs participate in the following activities: LMEA District and State Honor choir, EBR All Parish Honor Choir, EBR Rock Camp,LMEA District and State Large Ensemble festivals, Solo festival, DeBose High School Showcase at BRCC,community performances, and school performances. Choir students may also perform in the Glee club. Glee clubs participants work in groups to select music and choreography to create a professional performance. The choir is under the direction of Ms. A. Jackson.

 Fellowship of Christian Athletes
is sponsored by Darnell Chapman, allows students to discuss personal issues and seek solutions, some of which are spiritual. Since 1954, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes has been challenging coaches and athletes on the professional, college, high school, junior high and youth levels to use the powerful medium of athletics to impact the world for Jesus Christ.

Sponsored by Mr.Langley, FFA is an intracurricular student organization for those interested in agriculture and leadership. It is one of the three components of agricultural education. The official name of the organization is the National FFA Organization. The letters “FFA” stand for Future Farmers of America.


Gourmets Unlimited

The Gourmets Unlimited Club provides opportunities for young chefs to connect with other young chefs, professional chefs, and vendors to share ideas, promote products, and build techniques. It is a place where young energetic chefs can exercise talent, promote social networking, as well as give back to their community through service hours.  Students will have the opportunity to show off skills by fundraising and student cooking competitions.  Students will also be able to dine at full-service restaurants, tour local vendors, business, and educational facilities.  Chef Amy Queret is the sponsor.

JAG – Jobs for American Grads
Sponsored by Coach Davis,JAG-LA provides an educational setting that promotes academic and skills attainment, civic responsibility, leadership development and social awareness that is necessary to become a responsible citizen and productive worker.
JAG-LA delivers a unique set of services for students with major obstacles to help them earn a high school diploma. The program also supports students’ pursuing a Career Diploma through early experiences in foundational career skills and career awareness.
Ladies First
“LADIES FIRST” is a school based organization that offers a variety of enrichment and social development activities in preparation for life after high school. This club is designed to improve teen girls’ social development while allowing them to develop and nurture life long relationships. Our goal is to build confidence and turn teen girls into young ladies. They will be expected to give back to their communities through multiple community service projects. They will also have the chance to be a part of a sisterhood. Requirements must be met for eligibility, a 2.5 GPA, teacher recommendations, and a typed essay. For details contact the sponsor, Ms.Carla Coates.
Mu Alpha Theta
 Sponsored by math teacher, Amber Lacour, is a math honor’s society where students get the opportunity to compete
against other schools in quiz bowls. Interested students must have grades of A or B in all high school math courses and there is a $10 fee
National Honor Society
The National Honor Society of Broadmoor High, John Lay Chapter, is made up of Broadmoor’s highest achieving students. To receive an invitation to join,
a student must have maintained a 3.5 GPA for 4 semesters. The formal
induction of new members is held in November. At the end of each academic
year, a senior member is chosen to receive the Frank McLavy Memorial Scholarship.The John Lay Chapter is named for one of Broadmoor’s outstanding graduates
who was tragically killed in service to this country as a pilot.The annual scholarship is named in honor of the first and highly respected principal
of Broadmoor High, Mr. Frank R. McLavy. Ms. Toi Jordan leads this organization.
Now Be Loved
Now Be Loved is a creative new ministry for young women that empowers, heals and reconnects them to the love of their heavenly Father. The club is open to young ladies in 9th-12th grade at Broadmoor High School. The club meets twice a month with one of the meetings being a fun outing or community service project. The club also has other adult Christian women to help mentor the students. We are so excited to establish this club and be apart of the Broadmoor High School Family!!! Ms. Duncan is the sponsor.
Student Government Association

Some of the many programs sponsored by SGA include Orientation, decorating for the
Homecoming Dance and Pep Rally. November is busy with members trying to top the
previous year’s canned food drive and sponsoring the King Turkey Legs Contest. SGA
representatives do a great job getting homerooms to collect money to buy toys for
needy kids at Christmas and they are a tremendous help with the
Bishop Ott Shelter project.

Team Spirit Club
The aim to strengthen people’s physical and emotional well-being by providing fun, high-quality fitness opportunities in social settings to people of all ages and abilities. This group is sponsored by Coach Davis.
Yoga Bucs
Join our Yogi Bucs Yoga club! Did you know that yoga can not only make you healthier and stronger, but can also help you concentrate and focus? You might also play sports better, sleep better, breathe deeper and create stability and balance in your body and in your life. It will also build your confidence,  improve your self-image, and create body and mind awareness.  Ms. Brandi Hanson is the sponsor.
Young Writers’ Club
is the revival and expansion of the Poetry Club from previous years. The mission of this club is to celebrate Broadmoor’s
writing community and talents with regular writing workshops, peer editing sessions, participation in writing competitions, and self-publishing from the paper to performance.
